Dubai Runners Discover 3 Best Routes Beating Desert Heat
Dubai's best running is found on the rubberised Kite Beach to Jumeirah Beach track, the shaded Al Safa Park perimeter loop, and the vast Al Qudra desert cycle track, with routes shaped as much by the city's heat as by its skyline.

How we reported this

Dubai's heat means timing matters more than terrain here, but the city has invested heavily in dedicated running infrastructure over the past decade, from a rubberised beachfront track to an enormous desert loop. Here are the best running routes in Dubai for 2026.
Dubai Marina Walk
The Dubai Marina Walk is a roughly 7 kilometre pedestrianised promenade looping the Marina canal, fully paved and flat, with skyscraper and yacht views along the entire route. It is well-lit at night with cafes and water stations, making it one of the most popular evening routes once the day's heat has eased.
Kite Beach to Jumeirah Beach
A dedicated rubberised coastal running track runs about 7 kilometres from near the Burj Al Arab through Kite Beach down to Jumeirah 1, with distance markers, water stations and rest stops along the way, and a round trip of roughly 14 kilometres. The soft, knee-friendly surface and direct sightlines to the Burj Al Arab make this a genuinely good route, best run at sunrise or sunset with the sea breeze rather than in the midday heat.
Al Qudra Cycle Track
Around 35 minutes from Downtown Dubai, the Al Qudra Cycle Track is a large flat asphalt loop through open desert, part of an 86 kilometre total network, with a main paved loop of about 50 kilometres reducible to roughly 35 kilometres via a shortcut. It is open 24 hours a day and shared with cyclists, but is best attempted early morning or in winter given the complete lack of shade.
Al Safa Park
Al Safa Park offers a shaded, tree-lined perimeter track of about 3.2 to 3.5 kilometres, with shorter internal loops of 1.5 kilometres and 800 metres. It is popular with local running groups and is used for structured marathon training sessions even when the park's interior is closed, since the track itself sits on the park perimeter.
The Dubai Marathon Course
The Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon, held each February, runs an out-and-back along Jumeirah Beach Road, passing the Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Madinat Jumeirah. It is regularly billed as one of the flattest, fastest marathon courses in the world, and its route overlaps with the Kite Beach to Jumeirah Beach track that locals run every day.
Practical Guide to Running in Dubai
Heat is the single biggest factor in Dubai: outdoor running from May to September is genuinely difficult and best avoided for anything beyond a short, well-hydrated session. October to April offers comfortable conditions, with early morning or evening being the standard windows for any route on this list, including Al Qudra's shadeless desert loop.
