Dubai Frame: The City's Most Dramatic Viewpoint

The Dubai Frame is the world's largest picture frame — a 150-metre-high golden rectangular structure straddling the border between old and new Dubai that delivers one of the city's most striking architectural experiences. Designed by Fernando Donis, the structure frames contrasting views: looking north from the glass-floored sky bridge, the historic Deira and Bur Dubai skylines of the 1960s and 70s stretch toward the creek; looking south, the glittering towers of Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai rise in jaw-dropping contrast.

The sky bridge connecting the two towers has a transparent glass floor that leaves visitors walking above the city — simultaneously thrilling and vertiginous for those not entirely comfortable with heights. The journey through the Frame includes a multimedia exhibition on Dubai's past, present, and future — more engaging than a typical museum display, using projection mapping and interactive elements to trace the city's transformation from fishing village to global metropolis in under 50 years.

The Frame is located in Zabeel Park, easily reached by metro at Al Jafiliya station. Admission is affordable by Dubai standards and includes access to the sky bridge. Visit in the late afternoon to catch warm golden light on the old city — the contrast between the organic creek neighbourhoods and the glass tower skyline is most dramatic in the hour before sunset. The Frame is one of Dubai's most genuinely informative experiences, giving visitors essential context for the city's extraordinary development arc.
